Good point, Brooke. I'm not really counting on new shoes to stay nice and springy for 26.2 miles, but the ones I was using were losing most of their spring in five miles or less, and they were also the pair I got when I first started running, before I really knew or cared about choosing a shoe that really matched my kind of foot.

Good job on your 14-miler!

I think all shoes loose their spring at about 8 miles. I have two pairs of running shoes and my favorite have been demoted to second favorite in favor of the more cushioned asics as my runs get longer. But I have to say, I ran 14 miles yesterday and despite my cushy shoes, my feet hurt! And my calves, and thighs, and knees...
